Black Ash Park and Ride

The Black Ash Park and Ride site will be open from 8.30am to 8.00pm on Wednesday, 17th March 2010. The first bus will run at 9.00am and the last bus will depart at 7.15pm. Please note drop off and pick up locations will be from Anglesea Street, in front of Cork City Council offices. The buses will not operate to Lapps Quay on this day.

Parking

All parking will be removed from South Mall from 7.00am on March 17th.

Road Closures

Union Quay and Copley Street will be closed from 7.00am on March 17th. Tuckey Street will be closed from 9.00am to 7.00pm on March 17th. No access to Emmet Place from 11.45am on March 17th until 4.00pm on March 17th. The Parade is due to commence at 1.00pm, and thus at 11.45am the main parade route from South Mall, via Grand Parade, St. Patrick’s Street and Merchant’s Quay will be closed to traffic.

Traffic Management

Assembly Areas: Access to Parnell Bridge will be maintained until 11.45am. The Park and Ride terminus will be at Anglesea Street (it will not operate to Lapps Quay). Diversion of northbound traffic on Eglinton Street (from the South Link) via Albert Quay and Eamon De Valera Bridge, Custom House Street, Michael Collins Bridge, Penrose Quay, Ship Street onto the Lower Glanmire Road. St. Patrick’s Quay, Camden Quay and McCurtain Street are all open to traffic.

Main Parade Route

The Parade will march along the following streets: South Mall, Grand Parade, St. Patrick’s Street, Merchant’s Quay, disassembling in Parnell Place (Western Lane).

In addition, the following main streets will be directly affected and will be closed:

Parliament Street, Parliament Bridge, Washington Street between South Main Street and Grand Parade, Merchant’s Quay/Anderson’s Quay, Parnell Place (Western Lane),

Fr. Matthew Quay, Morrisson’s Quay, Half Moon Street.

Traffic diversions will be put in place to facilitate these road closures, as follows:

• South Terrace/George’s Quay – traffic will be diverted via Sullivan’s Quay and Frenche’s Quay to either Greenmount or onto Washington Street and Bachelor’s Quay

• Lavitt’s Quay – traffic will be diverted across Christy Ring Bridge.
